We are delighted that Rav James is making time for this event during a brief stop in the UK.
Our evening will begin with Rabbi Danny interviewing Rav James on topics such as: James’ journey and discovery of Jewish meditation and mindfulness; how Jewish is meditation and mindfulness; differences between meditation and mindfulness; the value of introducing mindfulness/meditation into our personal and communal Jewish practices and ritual life, and practical ways to do so.
James will then guide a meditation practice.
Everyone is welcome. You are welcome. No previous experience is assumed or required, of Judaism or mindfulness meditation or anything else.
About Rabbi Dr James Jacobson-Maisels
Rav James is the Founder and Spiritual Director of Or HaLev, Center for Jewish Spirituality & Meditation. Ordained by Rav Daniel Landes, with a doctorate in Jewish Studies from the University of Chicago, he has been studying and teaching meditation and Jewish spirituality for over twenty five years. He was the founding Rosh Yeshiva of Romemu Yeshiva and has taught and innovated programs in Jewish thought, mysticism, spiritual practices and meditation at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, Haifa University, Yeshivat Hadar and in a variety of settings around the world. He strives to integrate his study with his practice, and to help teach and live Judaism as a spiritual discipline.
About Rabbi Danny Newman
Danny is the Founder and former CEO of HaMakom. He is currently the Rabbi of two Progressive Jewish communities in London and also works as a Life Coach and Facilitator of Men’s Groups and Men’s Retreats. Previously he read Jewish Studies at Oxford University, studied at several Yeshivot in Israel, trained in psychotherapy and worked for many years in Corporate Law, Finance and Private Equity in the City of London.
